A driver rushing a man with stab wounds to the hospital struck a pedestrian standing in the road, Texas police said.

As the driver sped down the street at around 3 a.m. on Sept. 25, he hit the 24-year-old man, San Antonio police said.

The man, whose name was not provided by police, died at the scene, police said.

The 29-year-old passenger had gotten into an altercation and was stabbed multiple times in the chest, according to police and WOAI. He was taken to the hospital in stable condition with non-life threatening injuries, police said.

The person accused of stabbing the passenger has not been identified, according to the preliminary report.

Officers said the driver will not be charged.

The investigation into the stabbing is ongoing, officials said.
