Man trying to hit woman with car misses and kills nightclub manager, Texas cops say
A man attempted to strike his significant other with his car after the two got into an argument at a nightclub, but he missed and killed a nightclub manager instead, Texas police said.
Security staff broke up a domestic violence incident at a nightclub, Houston police told KPRC. The man then left the nightclub, got into his car and began to drive “erratically” throughout the parking lot, police said, according to the station.
He struck multiple cars, police said, and then sped toward his significant other in an attempt to hit her, KPRC reported. He missed and struck a bystander, a nightclub manager at a nearby establishment heading home for the night, police told KRIV.
Officers patrolling the area thought they heard gunshots, according to KRIV, and later found the woman on the ground.
The victim’s family members told KTRK that the woman worked as a manager for 10 years.
She was pronounced dead at the scene, police told KRIV. The driver fled, but witnesses helped officers track him down approximately a half mile away from the crash scene, officers said, according to KTRK.
Police plan to pursue murder charges against the man, according to KTRK.
Police did not identify the suspect or victim.
