A Texas father accidentally shot his daughter when he opened fire on a neighbor at his San Antonio home, police told news outlets.

According to police, the man and his family were hosting a boxing match watch party at their home on San Antonio’s west side, WOAI reported. But at about 1 a.m. Sunday, Sept. 15, the dad told police he got into an argument with a neighbor, who was a guest at the party. The neighbor started to act aggressively and was told to leave but refused, the police department said.

The dad grabbed a gun and returned to confront the neighbor, then started shooting at him, unaware that his daughter was in the line of fire, police told the San Antonio Express-News. A bullet grazed the neighbor’s shoulder but kept going until it hit his daughter in the front yard, police said, the newspaper reported.

The girl was taken to a hospital in critical condition, police told KENS. The neighbor was last reported in stable condition.

Police didn’t provide the girl’s age but said she is a child, the station reported.

Police also haven’t said if charges will be brought against the girl’s father.
