The first day of spring is March 20, but don’t expect warm days within the next week.

The National Weather Service forecasts a pre-spring freeze on Friday night for parts of North Texas. Early Saturday morning temperatures in Fort Worth expected to drop to the lower to mid 30s.

Temperatures between March 20-24 are forecast to be below average temperature in Texas, according to the weather service.

Typically the Dallas-Fort Worth area experiences temperatures in the 50s and 60s during March. Temperatures in April, on average, are in the mid to upper 60s and lower 70s. The average temperature for May ranges from the mid to upper 70s, according to weather service data.

If you’re not planning a road trip anytime soon, spring blooms can be seen at the Fort Worth Botanic Garden. Now through June the garden will have stunning displays and exhibits, including The World of Orchids which runs through April 9.
