12-year-old Denton girl found safe after being reported missing, police say

A 12-year-old girl who had been reported missing and listed as a “high-risk” has been found safe, Denton police said Monday.

Authorities did not provide any other details.

The girl had last been seen about 10 p.m. Sunday in the 3500 block of Quail Creek in Denton.

Denton police said people are considered “high-risk” when certain factors are present that put them at a higher risk of danger. Young children, individuals with disorienting diseases such as Alzheimer’s, and individuals threatening to severely harm themselves are examples of who is considered “high-risk” by state mandates. The reason for someone being high-risk will not always be shared on social media, unless it is absolutely necessary to protect that individual, according to Denton police.
