A missing pre-teen girl from Burnet, who was believed to be a runaway and believed to be in danger, was found safe Wednesday, discontinuing a statewide Texas Amber Alert.

Police said Helen May Marie Pierce “reportedly left her home willingly with an unknown male in a gray 4-door sedan.” She was last seen near her home in the 900 block of North Hill Street in Burnet, which is about 170 miles south of Fort Worth, around 11:30 p.m. Sunday.

Around 11:50 a.m. Wednesday, the police department said it discontinued the Amber Alert and that Helen was “safely in the custody of law enforcement.”

Police didn’t immediately provide additional details, but said updates to their investigation would be announced later Wednesday.

Police issued an Amber Alert due to her age and circumstances around the case.
