120,000 pounds of beef recalled after E. coli found. Walmart, Winn-Dixie brands included
A recall of 120,872 pounds of ground beef after USDA testing found E. coli covers mostly beef labeled “grass fed” or “Wagyu” from numerous brands. It also likely concerns your freezer rather than your refrigerator.
Here’s what you need to know.
What ground beef has been recalled?
Loose ground beef and ground beef patties made by Lakeside Refrigerated Services, a Swedesboro, New Jersey, company, for various brands. Most of what’s been recalled is past its use by/sell by date, so the main concern is customers have it in their freezers.
All of these will have “EST. 46841” inside the USDA inspection mark.

What form of E. coli was found?
E. coli O103 was found by the USDA’s Food Safety Inspection Service. That form of E. coli, as the USDA recall notice says, causes “diarrhea (often bloody) and vomiting” but usually doesn’t cause hemolytic uremic syndrome (HUS), the kidney failure that can make E. coli a deadly illness.
Symptoms appear two to eight days after infection and often hang around for a week.
What you should do?
If you have the recalled beef, throw it out or return it to the store for a full refund.
