Organic zucchini sold at Walmart stores in 18 states recalled after salmonella found
One case lot of organic zucchini sold under Walmart’s Marketside brand has been recalled after random sample testing of a single imported lot by the FDA found salmonella.
That’s according to an FDA-posted recall notice from World Variety Produce.
This covers case lot No. 38706503 of two-packs of zucchini. They went to stores in Texas, Missouri, Kentucky, Illinois, Mississippi, Arizona, Arkansas, Indiana, Iowa, Kansas, Louisiana, Michigan, Minnesota, Nebraska, North Dakota, Oklahoma, South Dakota, and Wisconsin.
Thursday morning, Walmart posted a list of stores that sold the zucchini.
If you have the recalled zucchini, toss it out or return it to the store for a full refund. If you have questions, call World Variety at 800-588-0151, Monday through Friday, 10 a.m. to 8 p.m., Eastern time.
By the CDC’s count, salmonella strikes 1.35 million Americans each year, hospitalizes about 26,500 and kills 420. Most at risk for the worst effects are senior citizens, children under 5 and those with damaged immune systems. Most people get fever, vomiting, stomachaches and diarrhea that starts around 12 to 72 hours after eating the tainted food and runs for four to seven days.
