An organic salad dressing has been recalled from Whole Foods Market in 11 states
Whole Foods Market’s 356 Organic Creamy Caesar Dressing has been recalled in New York, Texas and nine other states after a packaging boo-boo created a possibly serious food allergy situation.
If this sounds familiar, the FDA issued a warning letter to Whole Foods about these mistakes in December 2020.
Although this concerns a Whole Foods store brand product, the mistakes were made by Van Law Food Products.
In the FDA-posted recall notice, Van Law admits sending out the dressing in packaging that “did not reveal the presence of soy and wheat allergens.” That’s not a problem if you don’t have a soy or wheat allergy. On the other hand, “people who have an allergy or severe sensitivity to soy or wheat run the risk of serious or life-threatening allergic reaction if they consume these products.”
“These products” being the dressing in 12-ounce bottles with a best by date of 11/17/22. They went to stores in New York, Texas, New Jersey, Arkansas, Connecticut, Louisiana, Massachusetts, Maine, New Hampshire, Oklahoma and Rhode Island.
If there’s no chance someone with a soy or wheat allergy will put the dressing on their salad or in a recipe, continue on as normal. If there is, either toss it or return it to the store of purchase.
If you have questions, call Van Law at 714-578-3134, Monday through Friday, 11 a.m. to 8 p.m., Eastern time.
