ICE defends President Trump’s goals, says Dallas activists are ‘crying wolf’
ICE defended Trump administration’s goal to rid the United States of “the worst of the worst” in a new statement to the Star-Telegram.
Responding to questions from the Star-Telegram about allegations made by Dallas immigration advocates that many people are vanishing from their regularly-scheduled appointments and being detained at the immigration courthouse, a spokesperson for ICE said that Trump’s immigration agenda — which has resulted in several hundred thousand deportations since he took office again in 2025 — will continue.
“Politicians and activists can cry wolf all they want, but it won’t deter this administration from keeping these criminals and lawbreakers off American streets,” the spokesperson wrote. “Thanks to the Big Beautiful Bill, we have plenty of bed space to do so. We have no new detention centers to announce at this time.”
After immigration advocates raised concerns about the Dallas field office and courthouse, the Star-Telegram asked ICE for comment on Jan. 21. A spokesperson responded on Jan. 25, the day the Star-Telegram published its story about advocates who spend their days outside the Dallas field office to help people navigate the immigration process.
