Powerball player sipping coffee on porch realizes she won huge prize in AR
A woman was sitting on her porch drinking coffee when she found out she won a huge Powerball prize.
The Madison County woman was running errands when she stopped at a store in Huntsville and bought two Powerball tickets for the Oct. 13 drawing, according to an Oct. 22 news release from the Arkansas Scholarship Lottery.
After buying the tickets, she realized she was locked out of her car and had to call a friend to come help.
But the next morning, her luck turned around as she sat on her porch drinking coffee. She remembered the tickets she bought and decided to check the winning numbers.
“Oh, I’ll look and see,” she thought to herself, according to lottery officials.
She soon realized she had matched four out of the five winning numbers, plus the Powerball.
“I think I won $50,000,” she immediately told her husband. And she was right.
She hasn’t made plans on how she will spend it yet, but said she will continue playing the lottery.
The jackpot for the Oct. 22 Powerball drawing is $320 million.
