Powerball players win millions across the US. See where the tickets were sold
Three people fell just one number short of hitting the $290 million Powerball jackpot but still won big prizes.
A player in Pennsylvania matched five winning numbers but not the Powerball in the Oct. 18 drawing, according to the Powerball website. The player purchased the Power Play multiplier, which doubled the prize to $2 million.
A player in Missouri and a player in Wisconsin matched five winning numbers, winning $1 million each.
The winning numbers were 3, 11, 27, 40, 58 with a Powerball of 10.
No one won the jackpot, which rises to an estimated $304 million, with a cash value of $144.6 million, for the next drawing Monday, Oct. 20.
Nearly 640,000 other players in the U.S. won prizes ranging from $4 to $150,000, results show.
What to know about Powerball
To score a jackpot in the Powerball, a player must match all five white balls and the red Powerball.
The odds of scoring the jackpot prize are 1 in 292,201,338.
Tickets can be bought on the day of the drawing, but sales times and price vary by state.
Drawings are broadcast Saturdays, Mondays and Wednesdays at 10:59 p.m. ET and can be streamed online.
Powerball is played in 45 states, Washington, D.C., Puerto Rico and the U.S. Virgin Islands.
