A man and woman are accused of running over their landlord with a pickup truck and assaulting him in front of their children, New York officials say.

Deputies responded to a “landlord tenant dispute” in Lake Luzerne on Saturday, May 24, the Warren County Sheriff’s Office said in a news release.

According to deputies, Nickalas Vandenburg and Lisa Bennett, both 27, “drove over” the landlord before getting out and beating him, all while their three kids were in the truck.

Then they drove away, fleeing the scene, deputies said.

The landlord suffered serious injuries and was taken to a hospital by ambulance, according to the sheriff’s office.

Deputies found and arrested Bennett in the nearby community of Corinth, while Vandenburg turned himself in, the sheriff’s office said. Both are facing charges of attempted assault and endangering child welfare.

Lake Luzerne is a roughly 60-mile drive north from Albany.
