Three friends who have played the lottery together for years are now splitting a huge prize in Missouri.

It’s been almost five years that the trio has played the Missouri game “Lotto” together, according to a May 16 news release from the Missouri Lottery.

During the April 26 drawing, the three hit the jackpot by matching all six winning numbers after the group’s “appointed ticket purchaser” stopped at a sore in Sturgeon to buy the winning ticket.

The winning numbers were 2-6-8-10-16-28, the lottery said.

“It was just a Quick Pick,” the player told lottery officials.

But that quick pick would lead to the three friends winning $2 million, according to the lottery.

“I saw we won $2 million, and I couldn’t believe it,” the player told lottery officials.

The “longtime” friends are splitting the prize.

Sturgeon is about a 145-mile drive northwest from St. Louis.

Many people can gamble or play games of chance without harm. However, for some, gambling is an addiction that can ruin lives and families.

If you or a loved one shows signs of gambling addiction, you can seek help by calling the national gambling hotline at 1-800-522-4700 or visiting the National Council on Problem Gambling website.
