A California lottery player’s luck just won’t quit — and now, he’s scored a life-changing prize.

Over the past year, Javier Sanchez has won $1,000 on five different scratch-off tickets, California Lottery officials said in a May 2 news release.

Recently, he stopped by his “usual spot” to fill up and buy scratch-off tickets “on his way to work,” lottery officials said.

However, the store wasn’t open, he told lottery officials.

“So, I went to another gas station, filled my gas, and went in to purchase some of the Scratchers,” Sanchez told lottery officials.

Turns out, the $100 Million Mega Cash ticket he bought at the South San Francisco gas station was “the one he was looking for all along,” lottery officials said.

Again, his luck continued; Sanchez won a $1 million prize, according to lottery officials.

Sanchez told lottery officials he plans to spend his winnings to pay off his home’s mortgage.

Despite the life-changing prize, Sanchez told lottery officials he still “hopes for another big win again one day.”

Many people can gamble or play games of chance without harm. However, for some, gambling is an addiction that can ruin lives and families.

If you or a loved one shows signs of gambling addiction, you can seek help by calling the national gambling hotline at 1-800-522-4700 or visiting the National Council on Problem Gambling website.
