Man heeds wife’s advice and hits California jackpot. ‘Universe always finds a way’
A California man scored a lottery jackpot after heeding his wife’s suggestion.
The long-time lottery player “was out and about when he asked his wife if he should get anything at the store,” California Lottery officials said in an April 2 news release.
She told him to buy lottery tickets, and he asked if she preferred Powerball or scratch-off tickets, he told lottery officials.
“Get scratchers,” she said, according to lottery officials.
Per her suggestion, he bought a $100 Million Mega Cash ticket for $10 at a Palmdale store, about a 60-mile drive northeast from Los Angeles.
A few hours later, he checked his ticket at home with his wife and learned he won a $1 million top prize, lottery officials said.
The man told lottery officials “the win came at just the right time for him and his family.”
“The universe always finds a way for us,” he said in the release.
The winner told lottery officials he plans to spend his winnings paying off debt and buying a house.
The lottery player said what once were dreams are now “actually more of a vision.”
The man is not alone in celebrating his million-dollar win with a number of California lottery players also recently scoring seven-figure prizes, lottery officials said.
Amour Leon won $1 million on a Triple Red 777 ticket he bought in La Mesa; Maria Ramos Orellana scored a $1 million win on a Single Double Triple ticket from Mendota; and Jose Lopez’s stop at a Los Angeles market led him to a $2 million prize on a Millionaire Maker ticket, according to lottery officials.
