Thanks to his love for the Monopoly board game, a Missouri man is now a lottery jackpot winner.

“I’m a sucker for anything Monopoly,” the winner told Missouri Lottery officials after accepting his prize in the Monopoly Doubler game.

He said he was at a Midwest Petroleum in Ballwin when he spotted just a few tickets left on the game’s roll. After consulting with his wife, he bought the remaining tickets.

“We were scratching the last ticket and saw a $20,000 prize,” the winner told lottery officials in a May 1 news release. “I was jumping up and down. I was so excited to win!”

But $20,000 wasn’t all he won.

Turns out, he won one of the game’s top prize of $100,000.

“After we calmed down a bit, my wife said, ‘Maybe we should finish scratching it!’” he said. “That’s when we found out we won $100,000!”

There are three jackpot prizes remaining in the game, which costs $5 to play.

Ballwin is about a 20-mile drive west from St. Louis.
