A woman bought a lottery ticket during a trip to a Publix grocery store and ended up winning a life-changing prize in Florida.

Danita Wright hit a $1 million prize in the 500X The Cash game with her $50 ticket, the Florida Lottery announced April 28.

She bought her ticket in Jacksonville at the Publix Super Market at Johns Creek Center, which received a $2,000 commission for selling the lucky scratch-off.

She missed the $25 million jackpot in the game, the largest amount ever offered for a Florida Lottery scratch-off, but she still ended up with a second-tier prize, records show.

The 65-year-old St. Johns County woman claimed her prize in Tallahassee as a lump sum of $640,000, officials said.

A Sarasota County man has claimed one top prize in the game, leaving one up for grabs, McClatchy News reported.

St. Johns County includes the St. Augustine area.
