Who is posting child sexual abuse images in public places? AZ cops want to know
Child sexual abuse images keep appearing in public places in an Arizona community, police said, and they’re trying to get to the bottom of it.
The child sexual abuse materials “have been found on light poles, signage, and path markers,” the Tempe Police Department said in an April 16 news release, adding that it has “received nearly a dozen reports of these disturbing images being posted in public areas” since last September.
Police don’t have a description of a suspect, but they said the person may live close to or spend time on the Western Canal path, noting the images primarily have been found along the miles-long path.
Images also have been reported in nearby Chandler and Mesa, according to police.
“Some areas have been targeted multiple times, with new images appearing within 24 hours of removal. The material is printed on low-quality, adhesive-backed paper — likely made using a home printer,” police said.
Tempe is about a 12-mile drive southeast from Phoenix.
