A medical worker won the top prize in a Maryland lottery game for the third time in two decades — and can now afford to have some fun, she told officials.

The loyal lottery enthusiast plays the Bonus Match 5 game exclusively and checks the winning numbers on her phone every night, lottery officials said in an April 1 news release.

That’s how she learned she had a perfect match for the March 29 drawing, officials said.

She had bought a $6 ticket with nine lines of numbers, officials said. The fourth line down on her ticket “matched the first five numbers drawn that night: 4, 16, 18, 22 and 31; the Bonus Ball was 21.”

The player remembers winning her first-ever Bonus Match 5 win in the mid-2000s, officials said. She won again sometime in the last 12 to 15 years.

All three of her total wins were on quick-pick tickets, officials said.

“I am going to pay bills and use the rest to have some fun,” she told officials.

Many people can gamble or play games of chance without harm. However, for some, gambling is an addiction that can ruin lives and families.

If you or a loved one shows signs of gambling addiction, you can seek help by calling the national gambling hotline at 1-800-522-4700 or visiting the National Council on Problem Gambling website.
