Woman spends $1 on lottery game and hits jackpot prize. ‘When I win, I win big!’
A Virginia woman won a jackpot prize while playing an online lottery game she purchased for $1, lottery officials said.
Cecilia Yourshaw won $203,193 in the Lotto Virginia game, the Virginia Lottery said in an April 1 news release.
“When I win, I win big,” she told lottery officials.
Yourshaw was at her house on a Friday evening playing the game when she found out about her good luck, the lottery said.
“I was stunned!” she told the lottery. “Absolutely blown away.”
The Lotto Virginia game started April 25, 2023, and features a progressive jackpot, according to the game’s web page.
The odds of winning the top prize is 1 in 5,245,786 and the odds of winning any prize in the game is 1 in 5.06, lottery officials said.
The estimated jackpot as of April 1 is more than $61,600, according to lottery officials.
