Witnesses rush to help bloody, disoriented snowmobiler who hit tree, Utah officials say
A snowmobiler was visibly injured and disoriented after colliding with a tree in southwestern Utah, officials told local media.
It happened shortly before noon on Monday, March 24, near the Twisted Forest Trailhead in the Dry Lakes area, ABC4 reported.
The person driving was a woman in her late 20s or early 30s, the news outlet reported. A man riding with her was not significantly injured, the outlet reported from an Iron County Sheriff’s Office news release.
The agency did not respond to McClatchy News’ request for the release on Tuesday, March 25.
Bystanders who witnessed the crash found the woman unconscious, visibly injured and bleeding from her face, KUTV reported. She came to as bystanders tried to stabilize her but remained “noticeably impaired” and disoriented, the outlet reported.
First responders treated her there and she was airlifted to a hospital to receive care for “various injuries, including a potentially broken collarbone, a dislocated shoulder and neck and back pain,” Cedar City News reported.
Information about her condition and identity was not released, ABC4 reported.
Cedar City is about a 250-mile drive southwest from Salt Lake City.
