Snowmobiler trapped with child calls for help with a dying phone, MT rescuers say
A snowmobiler called 911 with a dying phone after becoming stuck with their child, rescuers in Montana said.
The call came in at 7:06 p.m. Feb. 23 from Big Sky, the Gallatin County Sheriff Search and Rescue said in a Facebook post.
The parent left Buck Ridge Trail and got the snowmobile stuck and couldn’t get it out, rescuers said.
The snowmobiler then called 911 and told dispatchers their phone had a low battery, but “there were no injuries” and “they were dressed for the weather,” rescuers said.
Rescuers found the parent and the child and warmed them up with a fire before getting the snowmobile unstuck. They were then guided to the trailhead.
Big Sky is in southwestern Montana, about a 45-mile drive south from Bozeman.
