Driver making Amazon deliveries sexually assaults minor, then woman, California cops say
A driver accused of sexually assaulting a child and then a woman while delivering Amazon packages has been arrested, California police say.
Fernando Barreto-Hernandez, 24, was arrested and charged with multiple counts stemming from two separate incidents in Los Angeles County, the Glendale Police Department said in a March 6 news release.
In a statement to KABC, an Amazon spokesperson said “delivery drivers are not Amazon employees.”
“Those who deliver to Amazon customers work for independent third-party delivery service providers,” the spokesperson said.
A woman told police she was walking in the city of Glendale on Jan. 21 when an “on-duty Amazon delivery driver” sexually assaulted her, police said.
Detectives identified the driver as Fernando Barreto-Hernandez, according to police.
Three days later, Barreto-Hernandez was arrested by Los Angeles police in relation to a similar incident from December, police said.
During that incident, Barreto-Hernandez is accused of sexually assaulting a child while making deliveries, according to police.
When Barreto-Hernandez appeared in court to face charges for the Los Angeles case on Feb. 21, he was arrested by Glendale police.
The Los Angeles County District Attorney’s Office charged Barreto-Hernandez “with lewd or lascivious acts with a child under 14 years old and touching a person against their will for sexual arousal,” the Los Angeles Times reported.
He pleaded not guilty, according to court documents obtained by KCAL.
Barreto-Hernandez was released from custody after posting bail, according to police.
He has worked for a number of delivery companies, including Amazon, Amazon Flex and FedEx, police said.

Glendale is about a 10-mile drive north from Los Angeles.
