Beautiful shelter dog has a ‘heart waiting to be loved’ in Kentucky. He needs a home
A dog who lived a happy five years in a home is now seeking a new one after being surrendered to a Kentucky shelter.
Stormy, a beautiful multicolored Australian shepherd, is waiting to be noticed at the Ashland Animal Rescue Fund — which is pretty easy considering his dashing looks and love of humans.
“Stormy’s Story: A Heart Waiting to be Loved,” the shelter said in a Feb. 26 Facebook post. “For five years, Stormy had a home. He knew the warmth of a bed, the joy of belly rubs, and the simple happiness of being someone’s dog. But now, he waits … watching families come and go, wondering when it will finally be his turn again.”
According to his pet profile, Stormy is around 73 pounds and is extremely people-friendly. However, he would need to be the only pet in the household since he’s not dog- or cat-friendly — same with small children.
“Stormy isn’t just another shelter dog. He’s a soul who remembers what love feels like, and his heart aches for it. He dreams of curling up by your feet, feeling the gentle scratch behind his ears, and hearing the words, ‘Good boy, Stormy,’” the shelter said.
He’s up-to-date on his vaccinations and is housetrained. He’s also a fan of walks and is excellent on a leash, the shelter notes.
McClatchy News reached out to find out more about Stormy but did not receive an immediate response.

Ashland is about a 130-mile drive northeast from Lexington.
