Cat surrendered to shelter for being too loving is now a TikTok star. He needs a home
A senior cat who just wants to be loved was surrendered to a shelter in Connecticut for being too affectionate.
That’s right, too affectionate.
The 8-year-old sleek black feline has since become a TikTok star thanks to a video The Little Guild shelter in West Cornwall posted on Feb. 11.
“This cuddly 8 year old boy wants a family that will love him unconditionally. We are in Cornwall, Connecticut,” the caption of the video said. The cat, named Ravi, can be seen in the video just loving all over the vet tech, giving her sweet hugs and head nudges.
The video had over three million views and almost 38,000 comments as of Feb. 21.
“Too affectionate??? TOO affectionate?? TOO AFFECTIONATE????!!!!!!??” one person wrote, basically saying out loud what everyone is thinking.
“The way most people would kill to have an affectionate cat,” another said.
“Not to be dramatic but I would die for him,” someone commented.
“I will never understand people like that. Yes my baby annoys me alot because he constantly wants love BUT he loves me. He feels safe with me. That’s the most valuable thing you can have in this life,” one person noted.
Thanks to the popularity of the video, the shelter has been bombarded with adoption requests for Ravi, WFSB reported.
“He’s a great guy,” Ann DeCerbo, the director of marketing and technology at the shelter, told WFSB. “He loves to be right in the middle of things. He wants to be in your face, knowing what’s going on and making sure he’s a part of the action.”
An update was posted a week later, thanking everyone for showing love to Ravi and those who filed an application for him.
Ravi’s profile is still up on The Little Guild’s website.
“Ravi is such a love bug! He will curl up into your arms and snuggle. His right eye is always a little runny due to a previous upper respiratory infection, but it doesn’t bother him,” his profile says.
“Ravi loves to toss his toys in the air and chase them around. This sweet boy will brighten up any home with his infectious personality.”
West Cornwall is about a 45-mile drive northwest from Hartford.
