A kitten has waited a long time for someone to love her, and an Indiana shelter is hoping that someone will finally step up and be tha person.

“At just 8 months old, Baby has already proven to be a fighter,” the Humane Society for Hamilton County in Fishers said in a Feb. 13 Facebook post. “Rejected by her mother as a tiny kitten, she’s been searching for acceptance and love her whole life. Now, she’s ready to find a forever family who will cherish her for the special little cat she is.”

The affectionate little thing not only loves people, but she’s also a fan of other pets in a household, the shelter says. She does, however, come with a caveat — but one that doesn’t stop her from being a lovebug.

“Baby was diagnosed with a neurological condition that affects her brain development, making her a little different from other cats,” the shelter said. “But that doesn’t stop her from being playful, loving, and full of kitten spirit! She loves her people, follows them around, and adores snuggling with her foster siblings (both cats and a small dog!).”

Baby is also known as an “affection eater,” which means she needs love and pets while eating as encouragement.

“A few gentle pets or a calm presence nearby helps her feel safe enough to enjoy her food.”

She’s also great at playing the shadow game.

“She follows her people around, always wanting to be close, and enjoys both playtime and cozy naps. While she’s making progress with her litter box habits, she still needs some extra patience and support,” the shelter continued. “With a loving and understanding adopter, Baby has the potential to truly thrive and fill a home with warmth and companionship.”

For more information on Baby or other adoptable pets, visit the shelter’s website.

Fishers is about a 20-mile drive northeast from Indianapolis.
