A Wisconsin woman is accused of plunging a kitchen knife into her boyfriend’s neck after he suggested using their house as a wedding venue, news outlets report.

Kailee Brantner, 22, of Brookfield, was arrested on charges of reckless injury, use of a dangerous weapon and domestic abuse, court records filed in Waukesha County show.

The man’s plan to get married at their own home led to an argument that escalated into violence at a residence in Brookfield, on Wednesday, Jan. 29, GMToday.com reported.

Police arrived to the aftermath: a man covered in blood lying in the doorway of the home, holding a towel to his neck, while his girlfriend sat on a nearby couch with her child, according to documents obtained by the outlet. A bloody knife was also found in the kitchen.

The man was taken to an emergency room where he told a detective he and Brantner had gotten into a fight that morning about wedding venues, but when Brantner came home early from work later in the day she “attacked him without warning,” WITI reported.

He tried pushing her away but she kept following him around the house with a knife, he told police. When he went into the basement to gather his things and leave, Brantner is accused of swinging with the knife, cutting him and drawing blood, the outlet reported.

After slashing him several times, she jammed the knife into his neck, he told police, according to the outlet. He fell to his knees and Brantner stopped attacking, investigators said.

Brantner told police the incident wasn’t a one-sided attack, but that she and her boyfriend both became physical with one another and she grabbed the knife after he had thrown her to the kitchen floor, GMToday.com reported.

Brantner’s next court appearance is scheduled for Feb. 13, records show.

Brookfield is a roughly 15-mile drive northwest from Milwaukee.
