Unemployed man shoots parents, kills sister after dad tells him to move out, WI cops say
An unemployed Wisconsin man gunned down his parents and sister after his father told him to move out of their home, news outlets report.
Gerardo Jimenez-Rico, 32, is facing charges including homicide and two counts of attempted homicide, stemming from the Jan. 22 shooting, Milwaukee County court records show.
No attorney information was listed for him.
Jimenez-Rico’s family had just returned home from a trip to Mexico when his dad and sister, 22-year-old Jocelyn Jimenez, started criticizing him about dirty dishes, according to records obtained by the Milwaukee Journal Sentinel. As the argument went on and escalated, his father told him to move out and find somewhere else to live, the newspaper reported.
According to investigators, Jimenez-Rico said his family had been “bullying” him for a long time about not having a job, and “he was just fed up,” the outlet reported.
Jimenez-Rico grabbed a gun and shot his father, police said, then his sister picked up a knife so he shot her too, WITI reported. He opened fire on his mother next, though he told police he didn’t mean to shoot her and couldn’t explain why he did, the station said.
Police arrived at the home and found the mother and father wounded but alive, the station reported. Jocelyn Jimenez, however, was pronounced dead at the scene, according to police.
She was a mother to a 4-year-old daughter and was engaged to be married, according to a Gofundme page.
Her death leaves behind “a void that can never be filled,” it read. “This horrific incident has left Jocelyn’s family, including her fiancé, older sister, and young daughter, in unbearable grief.”
A preliminary hearing for Jimenez-Rico is scheduled for Feb. 6, records show. His bond is set at $1 million.
