An Ohio man was run over after falling out of the passenger side of a truck and onto the highway, authorities told news outlets.

The Ohio State Highway Patrol said the 46-year-old man from Cleveland was in a pickup truck with a “malfunctioning” passenger door, WOIO reported.

The 50-year-old driver of the 1995 Dodge Ram pulled out of a bar in Vermilion Township onto U.S. 6 around 10:30 p.m. Oct. 29 when his passenger, who was not wearing a seat belt, fell out, troopers said, according to the Morning Journal.

Highway patrol said the driver then ran the man over before pulling off the road, according to the outlet.

Authorities said the man was flown to a Cleveland hospital but did not provide information on his condition, Cleveland.com reported.

Troopers said the crash remains under investigation and alcohol is suspected to be a factor, according to the outlet.

Vermilion Township is about a 45-mile drive west from Cleveland.
