A Florida lottery player turned $30 into a $1 million prize.

Charles Grissett hit the jackpot on a Florida 300X the Cash scratch-off game, the Florida Lottery said in an Oct. 18 news release.

The Spring Hill man bought the winning ticket from a Publix grocery store on Commercial Way in Weeki Wachee, according to lottery officials.

Grissett claimed his prize Friday at lottery headquarters in Tallahassee, choosing a lump-sum payment of $695,500, after taxes, the release said.

The lucky player beat odds of 1-in-1,950,175 to win $1 million, according to the lottery’s website.

Two of the four $15 million top prizes remained in the Florida 300X the Cash scratch-off game as of Oct. 21.

Grissett didn’t say how he plans to spend his winnings.

Weeki Wachee is about a 60-mile drive northwest from downtown Tampa.
