74-year-old woman killed by relative in unprovoked metal tumbler attack, KY cops say
An 18-year-old is accused of killing a 74-year-old relative using his fists and a metal drinking tumbler, Kentucky authorities say.
Wyatt Testerman is charged with first-degree murder following the Oct. 8 attack, which Erlanger police said was unprovoked, court records show.
Officers in Erlanger, a Kentucky suburb of Cincinnati, Ohio, found the 74-year-old victim unconscious after responding to a home for an active assault, police said.
The victim, Cheri Oliver, had “severe head and facial injuries,” according to a citation. She died after being taken to a hospital.
“Witnesses at the scene stated ... Testerman became violent for no apparent reason and attacked the victim, striking her repeatedly with his fists and (a) metal drinking tumbler,” court records show.
Police found Testerman outside the home and arrested him, according to the citation. Officers said he admitted to his role in the fatal attack.
The killing stemmed from a family dispute, officers said. According to WXIX, Oliver was Testerman’s grandmother.
During his Oct. 9 arraignment, Testerman pleaded not guilty and was jailed on a $500,000 bond, court records show. He is due in court for a preliminary hearing Oct. 15.
