‘Gentle cat’ was given up after lifelong owner started family. Now Gigi needs a home
A shelter in Indiana is highlighting a sweet cat that has gone through many changes in a short period of time and needs a new — and calm — place to lay her head.
Gigi was adopted by her lifelong owner in 2018 when she was just a kitten, the Humane Society for Hamilton County said. But life came fast for the cat in the form of a family — and she just couldn’t handle the major shifts.
“Meet a gentle cat with a strong spirit. After starting life as a stray kitten in 2018, she found a home but returned to HSHC after facing many changes in her life,” the Fishers-based shelter said in a Sept. 28 Facebook post.
“Now nearly 7 years old and weighing 7.3 pounds, she needs a patient family to help her adjust to a new environment. Despite her challenges, she’s affectionate and gets along well with other cats and dogs, ready to prove she can thrive in a loving home.”
According to the shelter, Gigi was brought back with two infected ears and a UTI, but was put on medication.
A period of rapid change led her owner to return Gigi to the place where she adopted her as a kitten.
“Here is why I was surrendered back to the shelter. In the last four years, I experienced many changes in my world,” the post continued. “My owner got married = a new person to get used to. She had two more children = noise and sudden movements. We moved into a new home = 1,000s of new smells and places. All these events knocked me for a loop. I needed much more time to adjust to each of these upheavals!”
Gigi is an affectionate cat once she warms up to a human and loves pets, the post said.
