A sweet pup is a brand new dog after she was found in a cruel situation months before, a Philadelphia shelter said.

Cayenne, a terrier mix whose age is unknown, came a long way since being discovered in a dire situation with the help of the Pennsylvania SPCA. And now, she’s ready to start a new chapter in her life.

“Unlike her namesake, Cayenne is the sweetest girl,” the SPCA said in a Sept. 25 Facebook post. “She has journeyed through darkness, but her spirit still shines brighter than the sun.

“Several months ago, Cayenne was found tied up in a yard, alone and afraid, with a heavy chain hanging from her neck. She was extremely sick and emaciated, but, thanks to the incredible care from our veterinary team, she has since healed beautifully.”

According to her pet profile, Cayenne’s favorite things include belly rubs and stuffed toys, and she has a “wiggly nature.”

“Today, Cayenne radiates happiness and resilience, and has the most infectious personality. She has quickly become a staff and volunteer favorite, and we are sure she would have the same effect on anyone who asks about her,” the post continues.

While Cayenne looks for love and a family, she’s been overlooked at the shelter.

“Cayenne is a good dog. She is affectionate, loves to play, and is very smart. She is open to meeting other pups and dog-savvy children,” the post said.
