Pup overjoyed to see man he bonded with days before show up at Texas shelter event
Patience and dedication paid off for one man — and one dog — at a shelter event in Texas.
Days before a Clear the Shelters event in Austin at Austin Pets Alive!, a man named Drew took to a pup named Julius and just knew, he was the dog for him.
“I’m here to see Julius, he’s a 2-year-old shepherd mix, and I can’t wait to see him again,” Drew said in an Instagram video posted Sept. 16.
“I showed up two-ish hours early, give or take. I want him to come home with me.”
Drew explains in the video that he and his partner came to the shelter a couple days prior and hung out with Julius for a little while.
“I came here with the intention today of adopting Julius and I can’t wait,” Drew said in the video with a little bounce in his step.
Julius, now named Bumi, was brought out to Drew and his partner and he excitedly greeted the duo with kisses. It’s easy to see that Julius immediately recognized Drew by the way he pulled on his leash when a shelter volunteer brought him out, the video shows.
“We’re not crying you’re crying,” the caption in the video said. “Bumi, FKA Julius, is just one of many pets that found loving homes during #ClearTheShelters. Thank you for showing up for Central Texas animals and making pets like Bumi’s dreams come true!”
