A shelter in New York is pleading to the public to give a second or third glance at one of their sweetest — and longest — residents.

Meet Percy, a 3-year-old boxer/retriever mix, who has been with Anita’s Stevens Swan Humane Society for a year and has been widely ignored for the better part of it, the shelter said in a July 18 Facebook post.

“We just wish someone would ask to see Percy,” the shelter said. “Percy hit her one-year mark at the shelter just a few months ago and has had minimal interest since arriving. We can’t imagine why.”

Like any shelter pup, Percy was anxious inside her kennel but seemed to thrive when around people and out in the world.

“The stress of being here can really get to Percy at times, but when she’s out in the yard or walking with the staff, away from the noise of the shelter, you can see her true personality come through,” the post went on to say.

“She loves to play and can jump higher than any pup we know! She just loves to be around people and does great in the car. Percy would do best in a home that can keep her active or that has a big yard!”

People flooded the comment section with loving statements about the girl.

“Percy is a beautiful, charming, loving dog. It’s just so hard to believe that they overlooked a lover,” one person expressed.

“Oh come on someone go get this beautiful animal I wish I could,” another said.

“She’s beautiful,” someone commented.

According to the post, Percy will do best in a home without cats or other animals smaller than her.

The shelter is located in Utica, about a 55-mile drive east of Syracuse.
