Rescuer finds kitten in ‘unusual’ box, Ohio group says. ‘Precious special delivery’
Rescuers from an Ohio humane society were sent to save a 10-week-old kitten from an “unusual” situation, officials said.
The Fayette Regional Humane Society was contacted June 15 by local law enforcement about a kitten that was reportedly “shoved through a mailbox slot” at the Clarksburg Post Office, the organization said in a June 17 Facebook Post.
“I’ve seen kittens stuck in many places, but this was new for me!” Chief Humane Agent Brad Adams said in the post.
The kitten’s “adventure” earned him the name Special Delivery.
Rescuers said despite his “unusual” ordeal, “he is enjoying his status as the center of attention and has stolen the hearts of the staff.”
Humane society staff also thanked the postal worker who kept Special Delivery safe until rescuers arrived.
“I’m sure it was a bit of a shock to hear meowing coming from the mailbox,” Adams said in the post.
“Special Delivery has a bright future ahead,” Adams said. “He already meows for attention and wants to be picked up and cuddled by everyone who passes by.”
Special will be available for adoption in the near future, the organization said.
“If you find a kitten, please call your nearest shelter for advice - kittens can’t be mailed!” Adams saidin the post.
Clarksburg is about a 40-mile drive southwest from Columbus.
