A man is charged with murder after his girlfriend was found shot to death inside a crashed car, Georgia news outlets reported.

Kjiar Prather, 30, was arrested Monday, June 3, in connection with a May 24 shooting that left a woman dead , according to DeKalb County police.

Officers were called just before 7:30 a.m. about a car crash near The Mall at Stonecrest in Stonecrest, police said in a news release. The vehicle hit a light pole and a power box before coming to a rest on the side of the road.

The female driver, who police said had been shot multiple times, was still inside. She was identified as Sabrina Carson, according to WXIA.

“She’s just one of those people that will give you their shirt, literally give it to you off of her back,” Carson’s nephew, Brian Johnson, told the station. “She didn’t have much, but she’ll give everything she got.”

A witness told police a man ran from the car shortly after the crash, officers said.

Prather, who was dating Carson, was later identified as the suspect, WANF reported.

Authorities didn’t say what led to the deadly shooting.

Prather remained in custody at the DeKalb County Jail as of June 5, online records show.

Stonecrest is about a 20-mile drive east from downtown Atlanta.
