Charming house listed in Florida has a deep history. Oh, and it comes with a ghost
A beautiful wood house with a rich background has landed on the real estate market in Pensacola, Florida, for $975,000.
Oh, and a delightful extra just in time for Halloween? It comes with a spirit, according to the listing on Realtor.com. But a helpful one, so don’t be frightened.
“Welcome to The Birger Axelson home,” the listing says. “Perhaps one of the most rare and truest preserved cypress homes in Florida and it is located in the Seville Square Historic District Neighborhood. There is plenty of land and the family heritage East Bay Long Leaf Pine trees remain as planted. This home has defied treacherous hurricanes of the early 1900’s and on.”
While the three-bedroom, two-bathroom property does have a throwback look thanks to the interior being last remodeled in the 1980s, the real story rests in the spirit that supposedly haunts the 1,932-square-foot home, which was built in 1897.
“The home is known to have a ghost who lights a way for a family member lost at sea,” the listing says.
According to Haunted Places, the home actually has not just one ghost — but two.
“The first is that of a signalman, who has been seen signaling from the house to the general public through Morse code, while the other is a female former owner who has been seen gazing out across the bay,” the website says.
Of course, the house has other spicy highlights including:
Large primary bedroom
Picturesque porch
Roof with hurricane clips
Property space to build on
Pensacola is about 195 miles west of Tallahassee.
