Former church for sale in Missouri is next to a cemetery. ‘Ghosts presumably are free’
Nestled in a countryside with rolling olive green hills and patches of leafy trees sits a unique residence that will surely entice someone in search of solitude.
The once Catholic church is listed in Hermann, Missouri, for $345,000, which seems pretty low for the abundance of space that is inside the historic building. And sure, while the building clearly needs some remodeling love and attention, there’s also a spooky element.
As in a graveyard.
The three-bedroom, four-bathroom home appears to mere feet from an old cemetery, the photos on the Zillow.com listing show.
While the listing makes no mention of the peaceful looking area, it’s clear in the photos that the gravestones line the property.
“Historic Catholic church renovated into unique home/B&B!” the listing says. “Great opportunity for a Bed & Breakfast with 6,000 square feet of living space, distinct living areas, plus guest apartment. Beautiful original touches everywhere from the domed rotunda ceiling to the original millwork! A gorgeous location and endless possibilities!”
The house was featured on Friday Night Zillow, a Twitter segment run by Bloomberg reporter Steven Dennis.
“Ever wanted to live in a former Catholic church next to a cemetery?” Dennis tweeted along with the listing. “Have I got the place for you! Just $345K for 6K sf. Ghosts presumably are free.”
“Get yer Halloween special....” someone responded.
According to PeopleLegacy.com, the graveyard is the Little Berger Catholic Cemetery.
Hermann is about 80 miles northwest of St. Louis.
