Does suburban ‘castle’ listed in Wisconsin look a bit out of place? See for yourself
Not every castle comes with a two-car garage, but this home on the market for $419,900 does.
The four-bedroom, four-bathroom home is in Hartford, Wisconsin and has a unique look — some might even say dated.
Like, medieval “dated.”
“Have you ever longed to become a legitimate king or queen of the castle or lord or lady of the manor? If so, your castle awaits you!” the listing for this custommade home on Zillow.com says.
Yes, a castle that looks like it’s smack-dab in the middle of suburbia.
Moat and drawbridge not included.
The 3,525-square-foot has a lot to unpack within its stone walls, including the following:
Two interior water fountains
Four built-in gun cabinets
Three masonry fireplaces
Marvin windows
Brick floors
While the house is certainly unique, fans of the popular real estate Facebook page Zillow Gone Wild sharpened their linguistic knives (swords) by tossing around jokes about the exterior and interior of the residence.
“I just don’t understand why some people want so badly to be the Flintstones,” one person said.
“That is a whole lot of brown sculptured shag carpet,” another observed.
“Carpet?!? It’s next to impossible to get mead and turkey leg grease out of carpet. The brick floor in the kitchen is much more practical,” one person joked.
“This feels like a custom home built in 1987 where the buyer told the builder ‘I want to live in Medieval Times. The restaurant, not the actual era’,” another said.
“This is the perfect balance between castle and normal house, and I think its not half bad,” one person observed. “Could use some modern touches but that’s nothing a couple cans of paint cant fix.”
“Every castle deserves an attached 2-car garage,” another said.
“You’ll have some great Medieval Times here!” one person pointed out.
“I’d always wanted to live in a high end steakhouse from the 1980s,” someone joked.
“Turn this into a (Harry) Potter themed Airbnb and you’ve got yourself a winner,” another said.
Hartford is about 38 miles northwest of Milwaukee.
