A pickup slid off a 100-foot cliff, coming to rest against a few trees above the icy Kalama River in Washington, rescuers told news outlets.

The accident took place Thursday, Dec. 30, at Kalama River Road and Fallert Road about 45 miles north of Portland, Oregon, KGW reported.

Rescuers pulled the driver, a woman, from the wrecked truck, KPTV reported. Her pickup slid into an embankment on the icy road, then off the cliff, at about 7:30 a.m.

The vehicle “nearly landed in the icy river,” wrote the Clark County Fire District 6 on Facebook. The agency was one of several that took part in the rescue.

Cowlitz County Fire District #5 Chief Victor Leatzow told KPTV that only a few trees stood between the truck and the river. He said the driver was doing well.
