Angry ‘meat locomotive’ charges California cop hunting for a loose cow, video shows

A California Highway Patrol officer trying to corral a loose cow on a rural highway got more than he bargained for, a video shows.

The video, posted to Facebook by the CHP, shows the officer dashing through the snow toward his patrol car, followed by the angry cow.

The cow knocks the officer out of the frame, but he returns a few seconds later, shaken and breathing heavily. The incident took place near Susanville in Northern California.

“Holy cow!” the Facebook post from Thursday, Dec. 23, said. The post called the incident an example of “one of the many dangers we face on a daily basis here in rural northeastern California.”

“This meat locomotive decided it had enough of being told what to do,” the post continues, noting the officer escaped “relatively unscathed.”

The post concludes with a reminder to notify CHP officers of livestock loose on the roads.
