Watch a runaway semi narrowly miss police officers, another semi off Texas interstate
A police officer and two Texas state troopers were quick on their feet to avoid being hit by a runaway tractor-trailer on a rainy Tuesday afternoon, video shows.
A semi lost control on Interstate 35, crossed a median and then plowed down a grassy hill toward officers who were at the scene of another crashed semi, according to video shared by the Belton Police Department.
“Look out! Look out! Look out!” shouted one officer, as the three law enforcement members darted out of the way. The semi came to rest against the one already wrecked on the side of the road.
No one was “seriously hurt” in either incident, according to the police department. The first semi crashed around 1:56 p.m. Tuesday and the second semi came its way at 2:45 p.m., the police department.
Belton is located in between Austin and Waco.
The Belton Police Department used the incident as a way to remind people to adjust their driving speed during inclement weather.
“Lives are literally at stake,” the police department posted on Facebook. “Also, remember when you see emergency lights, move over or slow down.”
