‘We are on your trail,’ cops warn suspects after 8-year-old shot in Texas drive-by
An 8-year-old boy was shot in his San Antonio driveway Tuesday, and police say they know who the suspects are, according to media reports.
San Antonio Police Chief William McManus has asked the suspects to “give yourselves up because we are on your trail,” KABB reported.
The boy was unloading groceries with his stepfather when the shooting occurred on San Antonio’s east side, KTSA reported.
Two people in a silver van drove off after shooting the boy once in his abdomen, The San Antonio-Express News reported.
The boy was taken to a local hospital and was listed in stable condition Wednesday morning, KENS-TV reported.
McManus said police believe they know why the shooting happened, according to KENS.
He said he was frustrated and angry about the case, according to KABB.
“It’s just insane that you would just shoot at somebody like that,” he said. The station reported. “Specifically with a little boy sitting in the driveway.”
A man who lives in the neighborhood told KSAT he was worried about the gun violence because a lot of children play outside.
“They just need to stop with that violence stuff,” Alejandro Altamirano told the station.
