Climbing into jail ceiling wasn’t a good escape strategy for Ohio inmate, video shows
A female inmate was caught on video trying to escape an Ohio jail by climbing through the ceiling, video shows.
It didn’t work.
Jessica Boomershine, 42, was already charged in the violent robbery of an 85-year-old man, police say, when she attempted to escape the Montgomery County jail in late January, WDTN reported.
Video shows her move a chair near the wall and begin climbing on top of a video kiosk in the waiting area of the jail. An inmate can be seen jumping up and down, cheering, while others alerted correctional officers in another room.
As Boomershine raised herself into the ceiling, she busted through the tiles, grasping a pipe above her, officials said.
That’s when officers rushed into the room to catch her, pulling down her pants as they tried to lower her to the floor. But she fell on the way down, hitting her head on an overturned trash can.
When officers asked why she did it, Boomershine told them she “wanted attention,” officials said.
Now she’s charged with felony escape and vandalism, jail records show.
That’s in addition to being charged with the robbery of the senior resident in Miamisburg with an accomplice, firing a gun in his bedroom and forcing the man to withdraw cash from an ATM , WDTN reported.
