Gunman caught shooting from car – because video of it was put online, Texas cops say
A gunman was caught firing from a moving car on a Texas highway — because video of the shooting was posted on social media, police say.
It’s the second time in a month that a gunman shooting from a car in El Paso was caught after video was posted online.
El Paso cops tweeted Saturday about the video, asking the shooter to turn himself in to the police.
A video put on the Instagram account fitfamelpaso on Saturday showed a smiling man firing several shots from a vehicle. It had nearly 100,000 views by Thursday.
By Monday, the suspected shooter was in custody after turning himself in, police say.
During their investigation, police determined that man had fired from the vehicle on Patriot Freeway in the southbound lanes late Friday night.
Jonathan Jay Oneal, 26, was charged with discharging a firearm in certain municipalities, police said.
In November, two brothers were caught by police after video on the same Instagram account showed them firing on a freeway in El Paso, McClatchy News reported. Josue Macias, 21, and Ruben Macias, 23, were both arrested, police said.
