How to play Powerball
On one ticket, there are five white balls and one red Powerball, the Powerball website states. Players can either choose their own numbers or allow the lottery terminal to select numbers for them.
Players select five numbers between one and 69 for the white balls and one number between 1 and 26 for the red Powerball, the website states.
Powerball tickets cost $2, and an additional Power Play ticket costs $1, according to the website for the game.
There are nine ways to win a prize in Powerball, according to the website. Players can win the jackpot by matching all white balls in any order and the red Powerball with the numbers in the drawing. The jackpot grows until it is claimed.
Power Play tickets multiply prizes by 2, 3, 4, 5 or 10 times.
The odds of winning any prize in Powerball are 1 in 24.87, according to the game’s website. The odds of winning the jackpot without Power Play multipliers are 1 in 292,201,338.
Powerball drawings are held every Monday, Wednesday and Saturday at 10:59 p.m. ET and can be watched online.
The next Powerball drawing is Saturday, Aug. 2. The estimated jackpot is $410M.
