Memorial service for Christian network Daystar founder Marcus Lamb scheduled Monday
A memorial service for 64-year-old Marcus Lamb, founder of Bedford-based evangelical television network Daystar, who died Tuesday after being hospitalized with COVID-19, is set for Monday.
Daystar Television Network announced on social media that a viewing will be held at Gateway Church at 700 Blessed Way in Southlake from noon to 1 p.m. and the service will follow from 1 to 2:30 p.m.
“We know how much Marcus meant to so many of you, so we would like to invite all of you to join us for a special memorial service to honor and celebrate his life,” the network said in the post.
Lamb launched the Daystar Television Network in Dallas in 1997 and moved it to Bedford in 2003. The network has grown to reach over 108 million households in the U.S. and over 2 billion people worldwide, making it one of the largest Christian networks in the world.
The network has featured vaccine-skeptic programming and physicians who support alternative treatments for COVID-19.
Joni, Lamb’s wife, said on the network’s Tuesday morning broadcast that Lamb had diabetes and was hospitalized in mid-November after his oxygen levels dropped. She said Lamb tried alternative treatments but was unable to recover.
Joni paid tribute to her late husband in a social media post Tuesday, sharing a photo the couple had taken four weeks prior.
“I can’t imagine life without you nor do I want to but I do know that you finished the race strong and I know God said ‘well done’,” she said. “The legacy you leave behind is strong and full of God’s presence.”
