83-year-old man injured in Haltom City fire
An 83-year-old man was hospitalized with serious burns and inhalation injuries after an early morning fire destroyed his home Monday, Haltom City Fire Marshal Fred Napp said.
The fire started around 4 a.m. in the kitchen of the man’s home in the 3200 block of Field Street, near Haltom Middle School.
The blaze woke up a neighbor, who was able to break out the bedroom window and get the victim out of the home. The neighbor cut his hand on the window and was treated and released at the scene, Napp said.
The resident of the home was taken by ambulance with a critical-care paramedic on board to Parkland Hospital in Dallas, according to MedStar. An update on his condition was unavailable Monday afternoon.
The cause of the fire was still under investigation, but Napp said foul play wasn’t suspected.
